In the era of digital transformation, the use of IT has become inevitable for efficient service delivery. With the government laying emphasis on transforming the country into a digitally empowered society, there is a need to put more effort into fulfilling this dream. IT has enabled people to avail of all key services at the click of a mouse. This has largely become possible because of initiatives like Digital India which is poised to make India a digital knowledge economy. IT has also helped the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways increase the mobility and efficiency of the road transport system in the country.
The Govt. of India have launched a wide ranging and supplementary programmes for transforming the lives of citizens including the Aadhaar, Digi Locker, Bharat Bill Payment System, mobile apps of various services, E-Sampark (Vernacular E-mail service), E-Commerce, E-Office system in the Govt. of India offices, to name a few. Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is one example as how digital transfer of subsidies has ensured that the benefits reach to the beneficiary without pilferage or siphoning off of funds by middlemen.
It will be a compendium of various transformative (Digital) changes that the country is going through along with experts sharing their ideas, solutions to the challenges in the roads to digital transformation. It is also a collection of efforts and initiatives on the best practices that will bring us closer to Digital India. The objective of the special edition is to strengthen relationship and facilitate cooperation among government organizations, industry, academia, think tanks and solution providers.
Digital India is the vision of our government to ensure that government services are made available to all the citizens of our country electronically. The ministries of Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences have exploited IT to great extent and would continue to do so. We are committed to contribute to the country’s progress through various key digital initiatives.
