Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit launched Governance Now, a fortnightly magazine and web portal, at a well-attended inaugural event in the capital today.
The chief minister complimented the Governance Now promoters for launching the "first-of-its-kind" publication in the country. She said the venture was timely especially because the expectations of the people from government were changing fast, "from merely casting the vote to keeping a constant vigil".
The chief minister released the special inaugural issue, “For A Place In My Republic”, featuring 10 erudite essays, two extended interviews and telling voices of a cross-section of Indian citizens. The list of guest essayists stars economist Lord Meghnad Desai, while interviewees include historian Irfan Habib and Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Gadkari.
Governance Now, edited by B V Rao, focuses on issues that impact governance across the country. Along with ground reportage and analyses, Governance Now will regularly engage with politicians, policy-makers, think tanks and academia to provoke constructive debate on ideas that will shape governance in days to come.
Present at the launch were Gautam Adhikari, Markand Adhikari and Anurag Batra, members of the founding team of Governance Now, a SABGROUP Publications Division venture.
